Nothing like a bit of competition to focus their minds on what the customer wants

I got some money-off vouchers through the post from Tesco today - you would think that there was a new supermarket opening nearby!!!!

1 Week on and still no comment on how good / bad or indifferent this overhyped new store is? After all the excitement is everyone now sat paying more attention to whats on their nice new (cheap) flat screen telly from Lidl or concluding that it is just another supermarket??

yes I thought there would have been loads of comments about how great it was. Not been in it myself but from the people that I have spoken to that have been in, they weren't overly excited about it. The car park was busy the first few days but think thats because its a new novelty. Its like everything though, you get what you pay for.

Also, there seems to be some wonderful rumour going round Penicuik that all the residents in Imrie Place received compensation of £3000 each. If only that were true! As a resident I just want to set the record straight that no residents have received a penny in compensation.

Lidl was certainly busy today when I was in and anything that attacts people to Penicuik has to be a good thing. I imagine certain other supermarkets are not so happy as they have seemed rather quieter this week.
As for the compensation story, it seems to be another of the "Chinese whispers" things that go around the town. Someone told me they had heard that Primark were coming!!! which seems very unlikely since they are only going to open their first Edinburgh shop later this year.

Still not been in it, the offers in the leaflets look good though. Was in Somerfield today though and it was the busiest I have seen it in a long time.

There is a Lidl near where I work in Leith and I noticed that they were selling trolley jacks for £15. I didn't fancy having to carry one home in the bus, so last night I nipped along to the new Lidl and bought one.
