I was just wondering if anyone was caught up in the chaos this morning? I must have missed it completely but my son didn't. He wasted a whole morning travelling in the bus to Edinburgh. He ended up having to come right back home as the buses were only going part route Mad Hopefully the problem should be fixed this evening http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/edinburgh_and_east/7760274.stm

I was caught in it, I got on a bus at the town centre at 7.50am and at 9am I was just getting to the petrol station at Angle Park. It was after 11am when I finally got to work. I think because the buses where so far behind some of them were being told to only go as far as the Bridges as the bus driver asked us over the speakers if anyone was going further than the Bridges, luckily for me I get off on the Bridges, by the time I got off there was another 3 Penicuik buses sitting empty that weren't going any further.

This morning I left home earlier, managed to get an earlier bus (0720) from Penicuik Centre and it took longer to get out of Penicuik than yesterday, 3 hours to go about 4 miles then just to add to the fun as we where right behind a normal 47 at Nobles the 47 kept going and our X47 took to the streets of Loanhead. At first I would say this was where I began to get very niggled, however apparently there hadn't been a bus through Loanhead for about 1 ½ hours and once back on the main road it only stopped as an X47 would. So overall 4 hours from boarding the bus to reaching George Street, can't wait to see what happens tomorrow especially with the weather that's forecast and the rumour that the A702 won't open until later tomorrow!

Just been looking at the Traffic Scotland website and apparently it is tomorrow (4th Dec) that the A702 is to reopen, and then there is the issue of the weather http://edinburghnews.scotsman.com/topstories/Extreme-weather-warning-as-forecast.4755294.jp

When I first read about the problem with the collapsed water main I didn't think it could be that bad. However, now that I've seen the picture in the Advertiser I can see the problem. That is one hell of a mess Shocked

Oh it's pretty bad - half the carriageway's completely gone. It's not exactly a "hole" in the road - more like a giant crater!
