Please tell me it's no more than a rumour!

In addition to all the takeaways we already have and the ones we now expect at Joe's Shoe Bar and the old junk shop, we're getting a KFC???????

A K F-ing C!!!!!!

Half the youngsters of Penicuik already seem to have arses the size of Bonnyrigg.......... Forget widening the roads. Start widening the pavements.

Would not surprise me but I wonder which "retail unit" they would be going in to as there are so many to choose from - new ones under the flats, old newsagents, Clydesdale Bank, bookies hut by Tesco?

The cooncil seem to have the idea that something is better than nothing while trying to promote healthy eating amongst schoolkids at the same time!!!

Some good news on the restaurant / takeaway front as the cooncil have REFUSED permission to convert the old Clydesdale Bank.

https://planning-applications.midlothian.gov.uk/OnlinePlanning/caseFile.do?category=application&caseNo=09/00256/FUL

Has the full load of documents etc.
Let us hope they can find someone to take on the premises as they are looking shabbier by the week. The High Street is not the most appealling place at the moment and Victoria Wine will soon join the list of empty shop units.

Thank goodness common sense seems to have prevailed.

Hang on though! That application was for a restaurant rather than another takeaway.

What would have been so wrong with that - assuming the ventilation problem could be resolved?

I do like the bit in the reasons for the decision that says:-

"The concern is that the town centre will move away from being a vibrant and vital town centre....... "

Vibrant and vital??????

I think the Clydesdale Bank alterations would have been an improvement, especially since, according to my spies, it was to be for Le Tout P'ti!
Presumably the Council thought that it was going to be another oriental takeaway because of the name on the application.
Perhaps if the locals were actually given all the facts about these things we could be allowed some proper input. I'm getting heartily sick of the deviousness (or perhaps in some cases just the thoughtlessness) of property owners. I know it's their property but if they want to make a living and they've got a good tale to tell then let's hear it!
We might not always be in agreement but how can we know if we ain't told.
Shocked
