I'm just back from a few days visiting my son in Crawley. There were ten of us in all and the sun never stopped shining Smile We weren't expecting to have such a good time but now we wish that we had stayed for another day Sad When we came back yesterday we thought that the train had taken a wrong turn and dropped us off at the North Pole Rolling Eyes

The taxi driver told us that there had been a bad accident at the foot of Mauricewood road. Today when I went to Homebase on my bike for some varnish I found a large queue of traffic at Bilston roundabout. When I reached the garage further on a car had run into a traffic island and hit the lamp post in the middle. The woman at the wheel seemed to be moving and there were a couple of garage employees helping. As I was going into Sainsbury's I could see the ambulance coming.

Oh, and I've just had a citation for jury service Sad

It has all been happening this week - apart from any potholes getting fixed of course. The Mauricewood Road accident was rather odd as the two cars were parked up at the bus stop when I came down the hill so I thought they had just had a bump. Then the fire brigade arrived, followed later by the police who diverted northbound traffic up the hill. I heard that they were cutting someone out of one car but no mention in the Evening News about it. Will have to check the Penicuik Grapevine!!!

Today we decided to go to East Fortune market. As we went through Milton Bridge and on to the dual carriageway a policeman was directing the traffic and we were diverted on to the other side of the carriageway. There had been another bad accident with an ambulance at the scene and a fire engine coming towards us. For some reason there seemed to be quite a few other police vehicles and ambulances with their blue lights flashing today. Rolling Eyes

Anyone know why there have been a sudden spate of accidents on the A701?

Poor driving would probably account for it....
