I went for an early morning cycle up to Penicuik house. However, as I was approaching the lodge house I noticed that there was
something different. The small wood that has always been there had been completely removed Shocked

As I was turning into the entrance to the estate I found it had been laid out next to the edge of the field.

I hope that the plan will be to replace them in the future.

I have a vague recollection that when I was on a tour of the estate by Sir Robert Clerk a
few years ago that he mentioned that a good number of the trees on the estate were
not natural. If I am right, I think that the long term plan is to replace these with a species
that is more appropriate.
