Any news on Aldi in Penicuik?

Does anyone know if Aldi are still planning to open a store in Penicuik, or have they decided not to bother now that Lidl will be opening soon???

Guess that will be a NO then?

Well it is definitely not happening now as the site is up for sale as a "development opportunity" via these people

I'm obviously missing something here, Sam. I can't find any reference to the Aldi site on the Coates web site. Door Centre, yes; Aldi, no.

Noticed a 'for devlopment' sign earlier today on the barrier, obviously Aldi have given up..

I imagine they have not got it on the website yet but that is one of the two signs up on the hoarding around the site. Hopefully they will have full details there soon - otherwise how do they expect to sell it!

Sorry, not been down that way lately. I think Aldi was likely to be a non-starter once they found out about the ground conditions. An since Lidl aren't doing as well as expected and two other supermarkets in town including one that might be getting its act together ...
Who needs the hassle?

Signs have been removed from the boards around the site and there were some trucks in there today so I wonder what is happening now? Another Poundland / Poundstretcher / 99p type place???
