Can I say a big thank you to Midlothian Council, 20 minutes to get from Glencorse to Tesco tonight because of temporary traffic lights between the foot of Queensway and Eastfield Drive and for what, they would appear to be resurfacing the pavement outside the Subaru garage - wonderful. A fortnight a go they had 4 way lights in Loanhead for something very similar then earlier this week they some more in Bilston, though to be fair in Bilston the lights were off-peak only and motorists where warned for about a week in advance.
Whilst I acknowledge that footpaths have to be repaired it does seem a little bit odd that they resurfacing paths when roads across Midlothian are in a terrible state of disrepair, oh and apparently they have no money! Surely it would not be outwith the realms of possibility to have lights off-peak if required but to move the barriers back to the side of the road to help traffic keep flowing at peak travel times...
