Firstbus or should that be Worstbus

This morning I went for my normal morning journey on the 141 from Penicuik to Dalkeith, so imagine my surprise as myself and another person at the bus stop watched the bus approach then wizz straight by despite the customary arm waving to alert the driver to someone wanting on. Instead of waiting for 30 mins on the next one, which who knows may or may not have turned up or indeed stopped - who knows with Firstbus I jumped on a 47 to Cameron Toll then got a 3 out to Dalkeith and arrived later than normal obviously but quicker than if I'd waited, albeit having had to pay a second fare.

Up until today I've not had too many problems with First, despite the uncomfortable and knackered old buses they stick on the 141, the mostly miserable drivers and lets drive lets loonies to get to the next bus stop so we are early and have to stop and wait time......

Fingers crossed for the journey home ...

It's not often that the same thing happens with Lothian Buses but they also have their moments. On Monday I stuck my hand out and the driver waited until the last second before he pulled in. It's not as if visibility was that bad either

I contacted Firstbus regarding this, as did the other passenger who was inconvenienced at the stop (spoke to her this morning). Anyway details that must be known to progress this are, what colour of clothes was I wearing so they can check CCTV (if installed on the bus) and what ticket type... Do season ticket holders have more clout than on the day single journey ticket buyers.. Not holding out much hope of an outcome to this, but I will persist to at least get some form of explanation...

Stop press - Firstbus have made an apology and have send me a voucher that can be exchanged for a day ticket as compensation for the bus not showing up, apparently it is within their terms and conditions that if a journey fails to operate (that they have control over) compensation is available!

Apparently when the bus had reached Penicuik the driver had reported a fault, control had told him to return to the depot off service and they where unable to provide a replacement bus, probably as by the time it reached Penicuik the next journey would have been leaving anyway...
