| Still doesn't work for me Mike. Perhaps it's because I am on the Ipad. I got this error this time Error We are unable to display this page at the moment. Please try again later. | |

| Ian, try going through the main MDC website and planning. I managed to get into the revised PA through there. My task tomorrow is to get a hold of the letter tomorrow and copy it | |

| I managed to have a look at the letter today. From MDC stating that the planning application had been withdrawn. What it didn't say was that a new planning application had been submitted the day before! Half a story | |

| What was it they used to say about Nixon? If he was in any danger of telling the truth he would lie anyway, just to keep in practice! Seems that government entities (at whatever level) have adopted that as a guiding principle these days. Or is this just straightforward incompetence? Answers on a postcard to your local councillor! | |

| Very sneaky little trick from Taylor Wimpey since the new planning application does not have all the objections to the previous one along with it! Good to see that there are two "comments" already which if it follows the previous one will all be objections - I don't think there was anybody in favour of it at all! | |

| To be fair to Taylor Wimpey, Sam (why??), there is no guarantee that objections to the previous application would be the same for this one. It could be that the changes have been made to address those concerns, though in this context I doubt it. It would be helpful though if Midlothian Council advised all those who did object the first time that the plans have been re-submitted and that objections should also be re-submitted. On the basis of what Chris has discovered it sounds more as if they are playing a bit fast and loose with the actualité and leaving people with the impression that the plans have actually been dropped. I'm sure that none of Penicuik's Councillors would condone any such behaviour! | |

| ...and the sign is back down again!!! Maybe they forgot that they needed planning permission to put it up so the new houses won't be "COMING SOON" More and a photo can be seen here if you missed seeing it: http://www.penicuikcuckoo.co.uk/ | |

| An update from The Cuckoo site saying that Taylor Wimpey expect to be given permission very soon so they can start work in February. There have certainly been quite a few "yellowjackets" around the area this week with a surveyor having a lovely time in the snow on Friday. The latest plans posted on the planning site still show them building in someone's garden so who knows what else is wrong. People living in other parts of town must also realise that it will affect everyone as the A701 gets more congestion plus traffic problems from schoolkids being driven to Cornbank or Strathesk primaries. http://www.penicuikcuckoo.co.uk/planning-will-be-granted/ | |

| So they rushed and jumped the gun by putting there sign up, now that permission had been granted why has there no work begining? | |

| All very strange as officially it has not been approved yet - see below for what the council planning site shows:
"Erection of 422 dwellinghouses and 36 flatted dwellings; formation of associated access road and parking areas; provision of open space incorporating footpaths, areas for play and sport, sustainable urban drainage features and landscaping; and other associated works
Land At Greenlaw Mains Mauricewood Road Penicuik
Ref. No: 12/00745/DPP | Received: Sat 10 Nov 2012 | Status: Pending Consideration"
Very different from the Taylor Wimpey spokesperson who said that they would be starting work by the end of February! Maybe they have realised how much it will cost before they can sell any houses with road upgrades, traffic lights, roundabouts, drainage and electricity line removal, never mind any possible geological issues!

| Digger on the rampage in the field behind Boyd-orr Drive today......no consultation or information from Wimpey or Midlothian Council so maybe need to check on health and safety aspects of the work! What the FRACK is going on when they can just go ahead and do this? | |

| It appears that Taylor Wimpey don't yet have all the approvals and paperwork done so anyone should feel free to email or phone the planning department (or the Advertiser) to put in a complaint. As far as I am aware there are no plan for a fracking test on this site (at the moment anyway) | |

| Spoke to someone today who has been phoning for a number of months keen to buy one of the proposed houses. They phoned TW last Thursday only to be told that they have hit further major problems (unspecified) and they don't envisage work commencing until at least January! And....... The sign is down again. So why is the fencing going up? | |

| Today they are busy ripping out the trees in the wooded section off Mauricewood Road (presumably to get access for taking down the electricity cables). If nothing can be done to stop them then why bother having planning regulations if they can just go ahead before things are finalised? | |

| Good news....the man from TW says that there is one JCB on-site which is creating a level platform for fencing to make the site safe and secure! You are just imagining that several diggers and bulldozers have completely trashed the site ready to recreate a WWI battle scene! | |
