Decision on the new wind farm due in May. That's if the developer doesn't pull a fast one and withdraw at the last minute. Wiped out 1000 objections in one go. Smart eh! What is even better for them that they have been able to come back with an almost identical application and no charge being made by the Council. Another significant subsidy by the electorate!

If I'm talking crap, please feel free to tell me so.

Why, instead of wind farms, don't we have legislation whereby every new building built in Scotland must have solar panels?

Solar panels are not unsightly (or, at least, I don't find them so).
And Scotland doesn't need to produce more electricity anyway: we already over-produce and export it to England, Northern Ireland and, now, directly to Wales. That's good, of course, but would "exports" drop significantly if we dumped the windfarms and went for mass solar panelling instead?

You have a good point. The problem is that SNP policy is all over the place. All for renewables (especially wind) and then they go and approve a massive new surface coal mine in Midlothian which will produce high-suphur coal which, in turn, will go to Longannet power station, one of the most polluting in Europe. Great.

I was going to go to the Town Hall meeting on Friday but Im told its no longer on and the developer is appealing to the Scottish government. What a farce! Lets hope they chuck it out pronto. The time that planners have had to deal with this case has cost the taxpayers (thats you and me) a fortune. No wondrer Midlothian Council is having to squeeze elsewhere.

Personally I'm all for the Wind Farms.

I don't see the problem with using the extra space to produce renewable energy.

Has work now started?

I was out by Leadburn today. Lots of vehicles, a crane....... and a high, slender, white, vertical structure getting put in place.

Just the one, though. (So far at least.)

One very daft idea coming soon to help out a windfarm company - wonder who will be blamed if it all goes wrong?
