One less eyesore???

Tesco have applied to demolish the former petrol station / car wash in Penicuik so this could mean one of the many eyesores in the town will vanish. The only question is - what will it be replaced with, if anything and will that look even worse.
How about suggestions for other sites that need cleaned up. For a start, they could take down the "Edinburgh Crystal" signs next to Strathesk School and get rid of the old bookies shop next to Tesco but please ensure something is done with the sites so they don't end up like Ladywood & Eastfield schools, the old YMCA and Noble's workshops just sitting derelict.

They should either have it rebuilt as a Tesco petrol station or flatten it and have it as an other car park..
I agree with regards to getting the other sites tidied up though.

I doubt they'd be able to use it as a car-park for the store given that there is a road to cross - a Tesco petrol station would be good though ...........time will tell!

I don't expect them to open a petrol station - Tesco have owned the site since 2003 and applied to re-open the filling station back then but nothing happened. They also applied to build a new filling station in the car park (where the BP station used to be), to extend the store and build a wind turbine but none of them has happened yet


It would be nice, especially as the BP prices went up again yesterday and we could do with some competition.
PS: someone has now applied to build a retail unit, cafe and petrol station at the Dansco dairy site at Loanhead!!!
