Pubs

With the new licensing laws coming into place this week it's creating a bit of a problem for some local establishments, apparently both the Vic and the Fishers Tryst are both closing as they don't have all the appropriate documentation and licenses in place. I know from speaking to folk in the Vic its a license for the building itself thats the problem and it could take 4-6 weeks before it's issued! Hardly a good place for businesses already struggling to be (which seems to include most pubs by all accounts!). So I'm going to need to find another watering hole for a few weeks..

Crazy that the council can cause these pubs to close due to their inefficient licensing procedures. I wonder if they can claim back for loss of earnings? the only problem there is guess who would end up paying it!!!

Due to the license situation and recent stories in the press, looks like the Vic could be closed for a bit longer than first expected..... On a more positive note though, although the Tryst is still closed until the relevant licenses are issued when it does it will apparently have had a complete makeover inside -probably something despirately needing done and can only be hoped that it helps lure the regulars and not so regulars back.
