It's bad enough that train fares have just gone up but it now looks as if bus fares are set to follow suit Mad

Love the picture used for that article - could they not have found a more recent one. The 37A service vanished long ago and the £2.30 dayticket too. Some people are expecting fares to keep rising to help the trams plus the lack of competition from Worst Bus won't help matters.

Your oh so lucky here in The Lothians.Buses else where are twice as expensive to travel roughly 2 or 3 miles especially in the Kingdom

On the other hand if it wasn't for Lothian, the First fares would be 2 and 3 times what they are now...

...very true, musicman. I remember the first day after deregulation back in 1986 when the fare dropped from 95p down to 60p as the new 81, 87 and 88 buses started coming out to Penicuik. At one time it only cost £17 for a four week Ridacard on LRT (as it was then)!
I see the bus forums have some talk of First East Scotland being sold off though there could be problems with competition laws preventing major operators buying it and of course the smaller companies could not get the money!
