Born in Edinburgh, but he spent his early years in Penicuik.
(Actually, when I think about it, aren't most Penicuikers and everyone else in Midlothian born in Edinburgh?)
Anyway, as you maybe know, Albert Watson (sometimes referred to as One-eye Watson) went to the US from Penicuik and is still reckoned to be the highest paid photographer in the world. (And I huvtae admit, some o' 'is stuff's no' at a' bad!)
There's a programme about him on BBC2 at 10pm tonight, if you're interested.
He's doing more landscape stuff these days and is currently on Skye, it seems.
Might be worth a look.
