So it looks like Beeslack High School is to close / relocate with a new school being built in the Bilston area at some time in the future. Midlothian Council also plan to close Penicuik High and I would imagine that the Beeslack site is the best place to build one new school as they could put it on the existing playing fields before demolishing the old buildings. This would also allow them to flog PHS for flats and house plus the playing fields on Carlops Road could bring in more money to help fund the schemes. Will it all happen? Who knows with our wonderful council!

I had heard about this but it was not easy to find anything very concrete. I certainly hope that they don't close Beeslack, especially if they want to build all these new houses close by.

The council have all these "great ideas" but are busy cutting back on just about everything else so how are they going to pay for it all? I don't think developers are making that much profit! One of the services losing out is the YMCA:

They also want to cover more space with housing including the tennis courts at the old YMCA:

Good article with all the info about what could happen with the High Schools (assuming the council can get any money of course). By the time they get round to doing anything we might have a new Scottish Government (2016) and a new council (2017) so it might all be pie-in-the sky!
