I know it was noisy and very late but the unexpected fireworks display last night was beautiful. Does anyone know who was responsible for it? It looked as if it was at the barracks or the golf course.

Seems like it was at the barracks - hardly a good way to get on with the people of Penicuik. Pity nobody rang the police or newspapers / TV companies to report shootings and explosions when it started as that would really have dropped them in it! Will be interesting to see what happens about it!

I believe that the army have been warned about letting of fireworks previously, so as you say, it will be interesting to see what they have to say about this incident.

I hope their near neighbours at Aaron House put in an official complaint as I imagine it would be quite a shock to the occupants there! Sounds like they think they are above the law so interesting to see what action is taken.

It seems the troops are going back to Afghan once more - the government have been keeping quiet about that one!

I think this has all been blown out of proportion.

I don't have a problem with the Army letting off Fireworks. I think it's happened once in the last few years.

They protect our country and freedoms at the end of the day so why not let them have some fun once in a while?

Welcome to the forum Penicuiker. I guess some people might see it as the thin end of the wedge.
If you let one person/organisation away with it, why can't everybody let off fireworks whenever they want to
celebrate some personal occasion.

They showed no consideration for their neighbours. There were elderly people, very young kids/babies and pets who were upset and frightened by this unannounced and extremely loud display.

Have to agree with you - if they just let them get away with things then why can't anybody set off fireworks at any time of night or hold a rock festival in their garden? Looks like they will get away with it as no more word about it - what a surprise!
