I went to visit Penicuik House today as it was the open day. Rober Clerk gave us a very good tour of the house explaining the history with a few interesting anecdotes. It seems that the house was officially opened last week by the Duke of Gloucester who was given his dinner inside, the first time this has been done for over a hundred years. There are now two rangers who are looking after the house and it seems that although the house was open today, it will now be closed to the public until the end of October as they still have some repairs to carry out.
