I recently found this building in the grounds of Penicuik House. Does anyone know what it was used for? Was it for birds or was it just a folly?

Thanks, Terregles seems to be an old name but it led me to this http://canmore.org.uk/site/51649/penicuik-house-tower which shows it to be a dovecot.
