Restoration of Penicuik House

I went for a cycle today past Penicuik High school and up Carlops road. There seems to be some building work going on and perhaps a new road. Does anyone know what it is?

Thanks, it certainly cleared quite a large tract of land though. Perhaps it will look better when they have finished and tidied it up though.

Okay, after seeing the article in the Advertiser about the restoration of Penicuik House I've finally figured out what the car park was for. I went for a run on my bike earlier on tonight to check it out. It seems that the access road leads to Penicuik house. It's great to see that the work has finally started. I'll be checking on it regularly and keep posting updated pictures showing the progress that is being made. Here is what has happened with the restoration so far

It's Open Doors Days now, and Penicuik House is one of the places that you can tour and see what was going on.

The Penicuik House website looks quite good, the date on there is different than the open doors site, looks like it is open on Sunday too.

Thanks for the link brownt, I've added it to my favourites. I had thought about going there for the open doors but as I went there last year, I decided to do something different. I saw that Bush house was to be opened for the first time. However, when I went there at 3pm I found I was too late and that visiting had finished at 2pm

I went for another run up to Penicuik house earlier on today. I wonder what they plan to do with this pair of wonderful looking globes?
