I've heard that Semichem is to close in Penicuik. Does anyone know if it is just the Penicuik branch?

Big sign in the window says it is shutting in February and looks like they are cutting back as a Falkirk branch is going too. Just as we thought that there were going to be few empty retail units left!

Thanks, I heard that the staff were not too happy with the short notice of the closure.

Not a good start to the year as Little Italy restaurant has closed and now Stewarts bar & restaurant is due to close soon meaning there will be four empty food outlets in the town.

Semi Chem has shut down already though sign previously said 28th February was closing day. Anyone got any more info about it?
On a more positive note, I see that work has started in the former Jean's cafe unit in St Kentigern Mall (next to Farmfoods)

Another shop closing in Penicuik as tofs (The Original Factory Shop) to close down. That will mean 4 empty units in the John Street precinct section (Semi-Chem, Royal Bank and The Studio) plus the empty car showroom in Edinburgh Road.....and they told us that all thse new houses would be a benefit to the town!

More empty shops as Carnethy Electrical near the clock tower seems to have closed and The Old Mill still remains shut after only being open for a short time. Not good news and hardly a great attraction for all the people moving here!
