So by the end of the year we will have another supermarket at Straiton. I can imagine that Sainsburys and Tesco are not too pleased about that!!!

Well, if nothing else, at least it will provide some much needed jobs and surely a little bit of extra competition won't go wrong either.

The competition will certainly do some good and should make T and S in Penicuik buck their ideas up a bit, otherwise they will end up watching tumbleweed blown along the aisles of their stores. It should be good for the petrol prices too so will help to keep prices below £2 a litre once it opens!

Seems not everyone is so happy about the new store according to the Advertiser article this week:

The opening date for the new Asda appears to be Monday 26th September according to some job adverts I found online. Expect lots of special offers at Sainsburys and Tesco over the next few weeks (and lots of traffic jams on the A701!)

I'm sure there is an entry being prepared for the Guiness book of records, thinking along the lines of how many sets of traffic lights you can have in such a short distance.....
