| Great, if they close Mauricewood road between Boyd-Orr Drive and the A701, that means they will divert traffic up and down Belwood road | |

| I wonder if they will sort out the 24/7 street lights on Mauricewood Road / Avenue and Edinburgh Road before they start on the resurfacing work! | |

| I know I'm not going to be popular for saying this but our département resurfaced two stretches of road on either side of our village (2km and 3km) in June. I was a little puzzled to see the warning signs going up then because in France everything shudders to a halt on July 1 and is only just grinding back into action now. All was explained when the entire operation was completed in less than a week! The road, I would guess, is about the same width as Mauricewood Road. We did remark at the time that in Scotland the same job would have taken six times as long, but seeing as how that stretch of Mauricewood Road is probably less than a kilometre ... | |

| The "workmen" on the Rullion Road resurfacing job hardly ever seem to be there and when I did see some people, they were busy drinking tea in their hut. Pretty sure it could be done quicker by several people with picks and shovels instead of all the machines so will be interesting to see how they do on Mauricewood Road. | |

| I'm sure that it was said on Radio Forth this morning that the road would be closed between the A701 and Belwood road. If that was the case I think there would be quite a few unhappy residents | |

| The council are (very slowly) working on Mauricewood Road now and Scottish Gas Networks have put up traffic lights and barriers further up the hill just to make things more chaotic. How can you dig up the only route from two estates like this and what happens if there is an emergency?

| After the powercut - a quiet and sunny afternoon at Mauricewood Road. Turn up the volume to enjoy the soundtrack from SPEN and SGN https://youtu.be/VdXi57ikqUY | |

| My wife woke me at about 2.30am and I noticed that my alarm clock was turned off. Luckily I woke a while later in time to reset it or I would have slept in this morning | |

| It appears that the road was completely blocked on Wednesday afternoon when a portable generator (required because SGN damaged a power cable) fell off a truck near the top of Mauricewood Road. I am just waiting for a vicar with no trousers to come runnign down the road next in this total farce! By the way, according to the cooncil, the are no problems with the work! (They also said that today is going to be the hottest day of the year) | |

| Somebody at the cooncil has decided to re-open Mauricewood Road this evening despite it not being anywhere near completion Specially for bus passengers, they have parked their tarmac spreader on the pavement by the stop so you cannot see the bus approaching unless you stand right at the side of the road! Nothing on the news about Midlothian Council being taken over by aliens though? | |

| Not again I could have sworn that the sign at the junction said 3 weeks but the web page shows it as 5 weeks How many times do they need to dig up the same section of road within such a relatively short period of time? Is this the third or fourth time? How much must this be costing and who is ultimately paying for it? | |

| Oh what fun It says that 'Scottish Gas Networks are set to upgrade their pipes at the Belwood Road four way junction.' Which begs the question of what they have been doing with the pipes the previous times they have closed the road for weeks on end. Surely they could have planned this better | |

| I thought I would write to SGN and ask them what it was they were doing. Here is their reply: "The closure of Belwood Road has been planned and coordinated with the local authority and has been scheduled to commence during the quieter month of January. This project is to replace the existing metallic gas main with new polyethylene pipe designed to last up to 70 years. Unfortunately there is a requirement for us to connect onto our parent main within Edinburgh Road. This requires us to work under temporary signals, to prevent significant delays on the main arterial route and to allow maximum safe working space, Belwood Road will be closed for the duration of these works. These works will eliminate the need to carry out any further repair works at this location. " So not only do we have to divert round Mauricewood road but when we come back on to the A701 we will be met with temporary traffic lights | |
