Works starting at the top of Mauricewood Road ready for the massive roundabout to be built later in the year - more info on the Penicuik Cuckoo site:

I had thought they did not seem to be making much progress with this work....

Yet another "never ending story"!!!

Road is open once more (though Stagecoach buses not back to using it yet). Wonder if there will be trouble for someone getting it finished early?

More joy for users of Mauricewood Road with a 3 month closure coming up then work commences on the A702 roundabout

Wow! Can you imagine the disruption if they have to close the A702. Traffic heading to Edinburgh
will have to come down Carlops road and traffic from Edinburgh will have to come off at Hillend Rolling Eyes

Funny how the closure notice states quite clearly that "Pedestrian access will be maintained" but it is fenced off right across the carriageway and pavement - even though they have not done much work there yet!
Nice for pedestrians who either go through the muddy woods or take the long detour via Belwood Road

Scottish Water have now confirmed delays to the work in preparation for the new roundabout on the A702

http://www.scottishwater.co.uk/investment-and-communities/your-community/mauricewood-road-roundabout

It looks like their work won't be completed until autumn meaning that the roundabout won't be ready until the middle of 2018! Bet Taylor Wimpey are not too happy as it will mean they have to try and get permission to sell more houses before the work is completed

I went for a walk up to Mauricewood road earlier this evening. They seem to have made some progress
with the roundabout but it still looks as if it will be a while longer before it's finished.

Although they are making progress with the roundabout on Mauricewood road, there still work to be done.
However, they have now left some space for pedestrians to get through now.

You were certainly right about it being a while longer Andy - completion now delayed until end of April (maybe). Perhaps we could place bets on which will be ready first - Mauricewood Road or the Queensferry Crossing???

Not much progress with the roundabout, although they have cleared away the machinery.

It seems that even if the road re-opens in early May it won't have much effect as it will be closed at the A702 end from 17th May! Perhaps they should rename it to "Mauricewood Road Closed"

Bad news now confirmed and it will cause problems for the Hunter and Lass too!

Some progress with the roundabout, hopefully won't be long now.

Lots of work been done on the road over the past two weeks as TW realise that selling houses is easier if you can actually get to them!

Here is a video slideshow I made featuring the many changes to the view at Greenlaw Mill over the past 11 years since they first began development

Very interesting video. However, I am still trying to figure out what the small detached building that is shown
in the video will be used for.

That is going to be the sales showroom once they get the showhomes finished and later will become a double garage - although on the plans this is marked as a "temporary sales office". I assume that they will complete plot 1 (nearest to the existing houses on Boyd-orr Drive) once this phase is complete as happened at Cameron Gardens in Bilston. It was nice of the council and Taylor Wimpey to not inform us about this building and the fact that the floor level on the new homes is at least 3 feet above the floor level in the existing houses. They also get higher up as you go along the new road so will be about 6 or 7 feet above the houses there!

Shouldn't be much longer now. All they have to do is finish off the pavements.

Road re-opened this afternoon but with traffic lights near the new roundabout. It seems that it is not quite finished yet - like so many projects locally at the moment. Even the 101 bus came down the hill this evening!

Website now has more info and pictures with prices starting at £186,000 for a 2 bedroom semi!!!

Thank you for posting that information about Mauricewood road opening. My son and his partner came
up from London last night as they are going by bus to a wedding in Biggar today. I was going to tell them that
the buses had been diverted and they did not need to go along to Penicuik to get the bus. However,
as this is not the case now, I didn't have to say anything Very Happy
