| So we now discover that the traffic lights at the new Greenlaw Mill roundabout on Mauricewood Road are there for "safety reasons" as realignment of the roundabout is required, just as many people warned that it was too narrow. The full post from the council is here: https://twitter.com/i/web/status/928578049720963079I would love to know who approved this road for re-opening and how much it is going to cost to sort the mess out. We also need to know when they are going to actually start work on the A701 and A702 junction improvements (or has all the money been spent already) | |

| Work is supposed to start between 22nd and 30th November according to the Streetworks site (you will need to search for Mauricewood Road and then select the icon on the map) https://www.roadworksscotland.org/ | |

| Wow - work has finally begun to fix the new roundabout. Wonder how long it will take them and if they will get it right this time?

| They have started (but not finished) fixing the Greenlaw Mill roundabout though not the slightest indication of any work at the A701 and A702 junctions yet so unlikely to be anything done until well into January now | |

| It's really annoying, there seems to be road works everywhere. To try and avoid the ones at Kaimes crossroads I took a detour to Gilmerton only to find that there were more road works there as well | |

| It's quite nice having such a quiet road when I take my grandson for walks when he stays with me. However, I was just looking at the houses they've just built and every one of them has a car(about 40-50 maybe), so the numbers will continue to grow. It's the workers who are being made redundant from the firm that I really feel sorry for. | |

| Latest update from the Community tab on the Greenlaw Mill page for Taylor Wimpey: https://www.taylorwimpey.co.uk/find-your-home/scotland/midlothian/penicuik/greenlaw-millJuly 2018 We wanted to give an update on our work to find a replacement contractor to complete the roundabout works on the A702. We have finished our review of the works that have already been implemented on site and are near to concluding our discussions with alternative contractors who could complete the remainder of the roundabout works. Based on these discussions, we would expect a contractor to be appointed by mid August 2018. In order for the contractor to make the necessary pre-construction health and safety arrangements, we would then expect them to be on site and restarting works by the end of August. The works should take around 3 months to complete. We apologise for any inconvenience whilst we take the necessary steps to resolve this unforeseen issue, and we would like to reassure you that we are working hard to ensure that any disruption and delay in the completion of the works is kept to an absolute minimum. We will update further once a contractor is formally appointed. ****************** It MIGHT be finished this year - assuming that someone does not steal it with the crime spree at the moment! | |
